After nearly three decades of leadership, entrepreneurship, and creative partnership, S&D Marketing | Advertising founder Lorie Sadler has announced her retirement from the Certified Women Owned Business, marking a meaningful transition for the Denver-based agency she co-founded in 1997 with Ronda Dorchester.

The agency, originally known as Sadler & Dorchester, launched during a time when women-led agencies were rare. Starting in Sadler’s spare bedroom with a landline phone, fax machine, and a single desktop computer, the pair built the firm through trusted relationships and strategic expertise, focusing on the rapidly growing cable television and telecommunications industries. Their insight into that emerging sector helped establish the agency as a strategic partner for national brands, including Comcast/Xfinity, navigating complex launches, campaigns, and industry shifts.

“From the beginning, we believed our greatest asset would always be our people,” said Sadler. “We built the company on the idea that great work happens when talented individuals feel supported both professionally and personally. Seeing so many team members grow with the agency is something I’m incredibly proud of.”

​

Over the past 28 years, S&D has evolved significantly from its early specialization in telecom strategy and large-scale campaign management. Today, the agency operates as a full-service marketing and creative firm, offering brand strategy, creative development, integrated campaigns, experiential marketing and events, and complex project management for clients across industry and non-profit sectors, including long-standing relationships with Adaptive Spirit, Water Research Foundation and The High Line Canal Conservancy.

Sadler’s retirement coincides with the continued leadership of President Anne Marie Hukriede and Vice President Kathleen Berry, who have been integral to the agency’s growth for more than two decades and whose investment has made them owners of the agency.

“This transition reflects years of contribution, leadership, and commitment from Anne Marie and Kat,” said Sadler. “They have helped shape the agency into what it is today, and I couldn’t be more excited to see them lead S&D into its next chapter.”

​

Hukriede and Berry emphasized that the agency’s future is rooted in the foundation Sadler helped to build. “Lorie and Ronda created more than an agency. They created a culture where hard work is balanced by lightheartedness, where ego-free confidence is the norm,” said Hukriede. “Their belief in focusing on collaboration, strategic thinking, and strong client partnerships is embedded in everything we do.”

Berry added, “Lorie’s legacy is indelible. It lives in the relationships she built, the people she mentored, and the reputation for thoughtful, intelligent work that defines S&D to this day. We’re humbled and honored to carry that forward.”

Reflecting on her career, Sadler said what she will miss most is the people.

​

“I love the relationships built through the work,” she said. “It’s a place where clients became friends and the team became a second family. There’s nothing quite like the excitement of solving a challenge together or seeing a campaign come to life. I’m grateful for every moment – but even more, I am excited to see how Anne Marie and Kat propel S&D to an entirely new level. They have long been the heartbeat of the agency, responsible for its guidance and growth, along with our core group of incredibly strong talent.”
